Cupcakes, who doesn”t love them? Well maybe the muffin man, but really cupcakes are awesome, tasty and creative. You can do so much with cupcakes because of their dainty size and icing possibilities. Now you are probably thinking ”yeah but you can do all that with a cake” and if you weren”t thinking that you are now! Well cakes a great but you have to cut into them, slightly ruining the aesthetic of the thing soon as the first slice goes. Cupcakes on the other hand, now that’’s a whole other cup of tea…as they are personal and are multiple you can create individually personalised ones; giving that extra touch of care and luxury. Also you never have to cut into a cupcake unless you are on some crazy fad diet keeping the aesthetic strong even to the last cupcake on the stand.
These splendid little bite size treats just keep growing in popularity before they we”re only ever seen at bake sales or fetes made by the local Gran, they are now used at weddings instead of the traditional cake, there are books dedicated to them, stores which just sell cupcakes and because of its already stated personal touch they are taking the world by storm in terms of party bag give a ways and party food. Their delicate persona also gives the baker or provider a real change to show off a bit with elegant, funny or over the top cupcakes and because of their endless possibilities there isn”t really a situation that doesn”t call for a cupcake. And when they look that inviting who could resist the temptation? Well maybe the muffin man.
The other really arty side to the wonderful world of cup cake baking is the wrappers themselves. There was never really much choice when it came to the wrappers a few years back, you could only really get those zigzag bordered ones and if you were lucky maybe in a different colour then a grey-y white. Now the level in intercut design is up there with the baking and icing itself. You can get cut out designs exposing more of the cuppacake itself, you can get personalised messages printed on them, you can get cool reusable flexiplastic ones which help with keeping forestation up. You can get ones that help to shape the cake into different shapes and designs, you can get ones that look like little boxes that open up to the reveal the treat and to really mess with people’’s minds you can get oversized ones… so you could actually make a cake sized cupcake…or is that then just a cake? I”ll leave you with that to ponder…happy cupcake eating!
