Essex is a county that gets given a lot of grief; we”ve all heard the Essex Girl jokes and just saying the name of the county conjures up images of boy racers in their modified KAs burning rubber down the A120. In actual fact Essex is an area that the locals should be proud to call home, it has a mixture of quaint English countryside and traditional British seaside complete with Mr Whippy ice cream vans, and is home to the oldest recorded town in Britain; Colchester. The fact that people are slowly beginning to realise that there is more to this county than fake tan and white stilettos means that Essex weddings are becoming increasingly popular.
Hotels and country clubs throughout Essex offer a wonderful place to host a wedding reception; although increasing numbers of hotels are obtaining licenses in order to be able to marry people at the hotel. This is a good idea if you plan on having a lot of people attend your wedding reception as it avoids anyone getting lost on their way to the wedding reception. Getting married in a country club ensures that the grounds you”re getting married in are well kept; this is often very important for people as they want to be able to look through wedding photos and see that everything is perfect, including the grass behind everyone.
In Essex, weddings can take place in stunning churches in beautiful countryside villages, such as St Peter’’s Church in Boxted; this church has all the things a girl could dream of in a traditional church wedding. There are stunning stained glass windows, a beautiful archway to enter through, an ornate alter and pews to seat all of your guests. Getting married in a church is the most traditional way to wed someone, but make it extra special by choosing a church located in the Essex countryside.
Essex also has the benefit of being a coastal county; although it may not be able to provide a wedding complete with white sandy beaches and gleaming yellow sunshine, it can make your big day a little different. The Pier Hotel in Harwich provides a wonderful place to hold a wedding reception. The hotel is located opposite the sea and the rooms inside are perfect for hosting functions such as a wedding reception. You could even bring the seaside theme into the service and serve fish and chips as the main course and knicker bocker glories for dessert.
If you”re planning on jetting to an exotic location for your honeymoon, then having a wedding in Essex is ideal; Stansted airport is located in Essex and flights from there will go to most airports worldwide. So, when planning your wedding, don”t dismiss Essex because of the rumours you”ve heard, remember that Essex weddings have the habit of being unforgettable.
