When you are actually delivering the speech, make sure that you do not just read what you have written. It is better that you only write some notes. You can make it more lively. Besides, you will need to keep having eye contacts with the audience. Do not just look at your notes!

Of course you can try to make some jokes. However, do not make this negative. And you should never overdo it. You have to make sure that all you will say are something positive. There is no point to be negative when you are delivering a speech as the groom or the best man.

One last point is that, you must try to practice before your really deliver the speech. You should try to practice in front of the mirror. If it is possible, you should try to find some audiences when you practice. Remember, practice makes perfect. You will be able to give a perfect speech if you can allow yourself enough time to do so.
