Tips for Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

One of the most important elements of a wedding is the wedding invitation. Let’’s face it, wedding invitations are a really big deal. Along with the photo album and actual wedding video, the wedding invitations are keepsakes that often last a life time. They also set the stage for the wedding by giving invited guests a feel for the overall class, style and production of the wedding occasion.

Just as the rehearsal dinner is a big part of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner invitations can be just as important as the wedding invitations when it comes to giving a positive impression on the entire event. Keep in mind too that years later, this rehearsal dinner invitation will be something the bride will proudly show her children and even their potential spouses or other family members down the road.

The recipient list is very important in the scheme of things too. Thankfully it’’s not too hard to come up with the list. People who have had a place in the wedding should receive an invitation to the rehearsal dinner, of course. This will include the bridal party, the bride’’s parents and groom’’s parents, and other close people the couple to be would like to invite. The actual person who officiates the ceremony such as the priest, minister or other official should also be invited to the rehearsal dinner. It’’s best to keep the list relatively small, limited only to those who have responsibilities during the wedding ceremony - before, during and after.

There are a lot of different options for designing and printing these rehearsal dinner invitations, too. Oftentimes the same artist who designs the wedding invitations can design the rehearsal dinner invitations as well. And it’’s probably one of the best ways to handle this. This tactic means that one vendor provides all the services, making it easier in general to handle the invitation portion of the entire wedding.

Also important is a consistent design. It’’s a lot easier to create invitations this way that highlight the same design elements as the main wedding invitations. Remember too that bulk orders often means cheaper. The printer may offer a discount if all the work is given to them at the same time as well.

Keep in mind that the reception dinner is also traditionally handled by the parents of the groom. The rehearsal dinner is very important in the overall scheme of the wedding ceremony. It’’s almost like a free throw in basketball. A poor job on the rehearsal dinner invitations can spell disaster, while a good job can make the wedding shine.
